These opening matches of the season are very interesting, and all Clubs are hoping to make a good show. The retiral of the Hong Kong Club 2nd Eleven, also the Chinese Athletic "B" team, so early in the season, has been met by re-arranged fixtures, and the reasons for these withdrawals are beat known to the Clubs concern- ed; the Hong Kong Club's lack of a second eleven may, however, prove a source of weakness in the future, as the whole of the Senior XI's in the first division with the exception of the Police run strong Reserve teams, and this with- drawal by the Senior Club of the Colony is regrettable.
Kowloon has the attraction of the afternoon. The Invincible Athletic of last year although not starting so strongly as they finished up, have already demon- strated their abilities and, .I think, will be too good for Kowloon. The match, however, should at- tract a large crowd and the home team have shown form in prac- tice games sufficient to warrant a good show. This meeting of last year's League and Shield winners should provide great sport."

Recreio start at home with the Small Units (Army) and, I think, will get the points, but the Army team is smart and will grow in strength us the season progresses, especially if later they can com- mand all their eligible players.
The R.A. and Police match is going to be a dour game.
Both teams are fielding players new to the League, and both teams ex- pect to be stronger this year than last. There should be little differ- ence in the result at the final whistle.
At Hong Kong the big game is on the Club ground and Club, whose team has already been published, are fielding a very
