For a long time past Roumania has been dissatisfied with the system of administration of the Danube, and at the present moment the question is again playing an Im portant part in Roumanian politics, It must be remembered that out of the 2,880 kilometres (Bay 1,770 miles) of the course of the river, no (680 less than 1,100 kilometres miles) are bordered by Roumania, and that the two stretches of shore between Turksmil and Sulina for a distance of 380 kilometres are Rou- manian territory.
