RECIPIENTS OF AWARDS Left to right: Pte Henry B. Bender, who received a diploma from the Marine Corps. Institute; Pte. Joseph P. Shegolski, of the U.S. Marine Corps, who was the recipient of a distinguished Rifle Medal, having before won three Division Rifle Medala; Cpl. Albert F. Hoffman, who was presented with the French Croix de Guerre for his services during the Great War in France. The presentation was made by Col. C. H. JAPAN'S GREAT GIRL ATHLETES. Only one girl re- presents the land of Cherry Blossoms at the Olympic games, but Miss Kinne Hitomi (centre) is a track team all by herself. She established a woman's world record in the broad jump by a leap of 18 feet 4 inches, equalled another mark when she ran 220 yards in 25.4/5 seconds and then hurled the javelin 118 feet.
