“I AM A POLICEMAN.” |
LORD BYNG ON HIS. APPOINTMENT.
Chief Lord Howart (Lord Justice), speaking at a Canada Club dinner at the Savoy Hotel, at which Lord Byng was also pre- sent, said: "What a delight it was to observe the cheers with which his name was received among you, who know him well. I cannot help drawing from that cordiality the inference that in another sphere to which stern duty calls him he will accomplish a success not less distinguished than that which he accomplished with you in the war.".
At the end of the dinner there were cries, for a speech from Chow, Honorary President of the toast list, and after repeated calls Lord Byng, who was not on the S.C.A.A., Mr. Li Yau-chuen, the he spoke.
