Mr. John Lewis, the well-known silk mercer and draper, of Oxford- street, who came into prominence about seventeen year ago in conse quence of an action for libel brought against him by his ground landlord, Lord Howard de Walden, died at his home at Hampstead at the age of 92 years,

liquor, or woman suffrage. He came to London "on spec," as he used to say, as a young man from Liverpool, and never faltered in his devotion to the city.
