INC & IMPORTANT CONTRACTS.

Of great interest In marine edgineering circles is the contract placed by the Iranian Steamship' Company with the Blythswood Shipbuilding Company, of Scot- stoun, Glasgow, for an oil tanker of 8,200 tons capacity. The vessel is to be fitted with a Diesel engino' of the double-acting two-stroke- airloss Injection type evolved by: Messra, Richardsons, Westgarth and Company, Limited.

This will be the first vessel to be Atted with this type of engine, which has proved very successful in its trials. Naturally the builders are very gratified at having-induced the owners to fit this engine, which has not yet been installed, in any seagoing craft. The engine will be of 1,250 b.h.p., and the vessel `will. be equipped with electric au- | xiliaries.

Another contract of considerable importance is one for two. Doxford upposed piston type Diesel enginca which Messrs. Richardsons, West- garth and Company are to build for two veels for the Prince Line, which are being constructed by the Blythswood Shipbuilding Company at Scotstoun. Those ships will be sister ships of those ordered from Deutch Werft by Messrs. the Furness, Withy and Company some three years ago. '.
