Queen's road, named thus within a few years of the cession of Hong Kong to the British Crown, has been known by several other resignations, the origin of which is not difficult to trace. But it is by no means the most interesting of thoroughfares in the Colony from a point of view of native association, both appropriate and in- appropriate.
There are, for instance, at least four Greedy Streets within the boundaries of the city of Victoria. Officially, they are called some- thing else; but the nomenclature popularly used by the Chinese can hardly be as unpretentious as the names given recently by the Gov- ernment to some of the streets in the suburbs of Koloon.
