FOOTBALL.

THE SEASON'S CLOSE ON HONG KONG GROUNDS.

CLUBS' PROGRESS.

{By "Rover."] The Hong Kong Football Season has officially finished and although friendly and practice matches will, be the order throughout the close season, particularly amongst the local juniors, serious football will not start again until September.

There is no doubt the past season has been an eventful one in the history of Hong Kong Soccer.

The success of the Youngest Club In the Colony, the Chinese Athletic, coupled with their specta- cular play has resulted in huge crowds being attracted to all games in which they as a team or in- dividual players of their team have been playing.

A Review, The standard of football during the past season has been good. The arrival of additional military teams in the Colony has improved the League, and improved the class of play. The Chinese Athletic, fresh from a very promising, acason in 1926/27, improved their team by the introduction of Li Wai-koon inside right and, Leung Yuk-tong

both these players in the team the Chinese are

a tough proposition against all opponents. The Ath- letic if they can retain their play ers will be a big force in local foot ball for many years to come as they possess capable reserves in plenty, abundant enthusiasm, and solid
