At the Kowloon Magistracy yes. terday, Mr. W. Schofield imposed a fine of $3 or six days' jail on a Chinese woman for begging. As the woman had no money to pay the fine and had to go to jail, the Magistrate ordered her six-year- ald son to be sent to the Po Leung Kuk until the mother's discharge.

Two Chinese schoolboys had a quarrel in Yaumati on Saturday afternoon. Heated words led to blows when it was alleged that one of the lads stabbed the other in the Arm with a penknife. Yesterday the assallant was charged before Mr. W. Schofield at the Kowloon Magistracy. Mr. Schofield srdered the defendant to receive six strokes, directing that if he were not fit to be chastised, he should go to jail for 14 days' with hard labour. The kaife was confiscated.
