THRILLING STORY.
Canton was in the hands of riotous mobs. The Island of Sha- meen, the European quarter, was invested. Then New Zealand came to the fore and Captain B. McK. Thomson, a Gisborne boy, sailed a British ship to the invested island under the very muzzles of the guns of the Canton forts.
