NO DEFINITION.
What Is A "War Of Aggression?"
LEAGUE ASSEMBLY SILENT.
Undertaking Of Powers Quite Implicit.
Sir
Rugby, Yesterday. Austen Chamberlain, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, was asked in the House of Commons whether, in view of the British delegation to the eighth Assembly of the League of Nations having voted for the Polish resolution that a war of aggression was an international crime, any definition of the term "War of aggression" was reached by the Assembly before passing this resolution.
Sir Austen Chamberlain replied that no definition was made by the Assembly. In subscribing to the Polish resolution none of the Powers undertook any fresh en- gagement, since the undertaking not to wage wars of aggression was implicit and, indeed, was the very essence of the covenant' of the League.
Replying to supplementary questions Sir Austen Chamber- lain said that it would be far wiser not to attempt to define { "war of aggression," but to leave It to the competent authorities to ascertain who was the aggressor when the facts were before them.-British Wireless Service. Trap for Innocent Party.
London, Yesterday.
