This man was sentenced to death. Chinese Constable No. 1628, Shan Chao-hsien. For bravery and de- termination when one' of a gang of four armed robbers evaded arrest being pursued by a detective. C.P.C. 1628 took up the chase and though shot at twice by him suc- ceeded in wounding him fatally.

The diplomatle committee of the Nationalist Government decided the other day to appoint Miss Chen Yoh-sieu as special, deputy envoy to Europe, to inform the people of the situation in China to-day, I writes the "Sinwanpao."

Miss Chen is a doctor of law, and is a qualified person for this work. It is reported that the diplomatic committee has peti- tioned the Nationalist Government to lasue an order to this effect.
