Violet is one of the oddest ship mascots in the service of any fiest. Usually a dog or cat fills the bill, but Violet is a guinea pig. was given to the officers and men aboard the Cassiopee six months ago by an Australian girl. The donor's name was Violet, hence the 'name of the guinea-pig.
During her short stay on beard the Cassiopee, Violet has become domesticated enough to eat table legs and plug cut. She tackled a reporter's note book yesterday but gave it up as a bad job. It was too tough.
