At seven o'clock on Saturday night the Star, Ferry, on reaching Kowloon, crashed into the wharf with considerable violence, con- siderably alarming the passengers on board. Two of the huge vertical beams on the wharf were reduced almost to splinters.

There was a large attendance of Service men and civilians at the Kowloon Dock bathing beach the yesterday afternoon when Band of the Queen's Royal Regi ment, under Band Sergt. E. Manley, rendered selections and refreshments were provided at a nominal charge by ladies and other helpers from the Dock. The sum raised by these concerts in chargos to civilians for ad mission is to be devoted to a fund for organising a swimming gela for the Services at the end of the season.
