The dimensions of the basin un- der construction will be 85 metrés by 620 metres, with a capacity of thirty-six barges at a time, and there will also be loading points on the canal itself. The total land area for the harbour and adjacent facilities Is some 300 acres, while a further area of over double that amount has also been acquired by the town for subsequent expansion.
