The loss in our export trade was mainly under the head of articles wholly or mainly manufactured, this section being responsible for 49,228,284 of the £9,876,844 de- crease on February of last year.
For the two months this year the imports were valued at £207,452.124, which is a drop of £7,151,575 on the similar period of last year.
British exports are down by 414,835,470 over the same period, this year's total being £108,359,248. Re-exports also suffered a heavy losu, the total for January and February of £20,668, 159 being $4,294,951 less than for the frat two months of 1926.
Mr. W. S. Crawford, in seconding the remarks of the Chairman, who recently returned from the Leipsic Fair with Sir Lawrence Weaver, described it as a battle of nations for trade. Though Empire trade was the first thing in their thoughts, they were anxious to trade with: every other country in the world. (Hear, hear.)
