HONGKONG TIDES.
The tide-table given below has been obtained by aid of the Tide- predicting Machine, which in- cludes 40 components for the bet- ter prediction of tides, from the! result of the analysis of the tidal observations, taken at the Kaulung tidal observatory under the direction of Dr. Doberck dur- ing the years 1887, 1888, & 1889, The times and heights are given for Kaulung; but they may be used for the Victoria Naval yard and Aberdeen, the differences being very small.
The times of high-and low- water must not be considered to coincide with the times of slack- water and change of current, the two phenomena being quite distinct.
