General Chiang Kai-shek later arrived at. Nanking and it was found possible to evacuate the remaining foreigners. The missing 150 Americans have been accounted for. One has been killed and another wounded. Full details are given below of the events in Nanking.

Satisfaction is expressed at the Nanking co-operation between the British and American forces, and the opinion is held that events in China are tending to align the Fowers once more in a single policy. Labour messages, discussing the future of Shanghai, emphasize that the problem is entirely different from, Hankow, and must be decided by all the Powers in agreement.

Washington Officials Growing Anxiety.
Washington, March 25. Officials are deeply concerned at the situation at Nanking and the loss of the lives of Americans and other foreigners there.
United States haval circles are very perturbed at Rear-Admiral six-Williams's despatches from China. The Secretary of the Navy, Mr. Wilbur, is said to have insisted at his conference with Mr. Kellogg, the Secretary of State, yesterday that a definite announcement should be made indicating that the Government is standing squarely behind Rear-Admiral Williams in all measures he might be compelled to take.
