Last year's figure war alightly lower than for the previous year, being 2011,374, as against 2042,840 for 1925..

There is every evidence of a con- tinuance of building activities. The capital value of city property is now set down at £21,072,130, with an annual rateable value of £1,152,574.

There was a gratifying diminu tion in the number of cases of in- fectious, dieaases reported by the city's chief health Inspector for the 1920 municipal year.

The total for 1925 showed only a slight decrease on the total fer 1924, but last year the reduction in the number of cases reported: totalled 123,

The comparative yields in respect to cats are much more strikingly in favout of this State, whilst the figures dealing with bay production show a corresponding advance in favour of Western Australia.

Record Apple Crop.

A record apple crop of besween .780,000, and 790,000 bushels is estì- mated for the current season. If realised this will mean an increase: of 50 per cent. on last year's crop, and an increase of 30 per cent. on! the average crop.

The previous highest yield was obtained in the 1923 season, when 750,998 bushels were harvested, 358,850 bushels of which were ex- ported.

This year it is expected that the export total will be between that figure and 400,000 bushels.

Last year the apple crop lighter than usual, and, owing to the strike in England, prices were not all that could be desired.
