Rain this week has put a different complexion on the prospects for this year's annual race meeting of the Hong Kong Jockey Club (to be gin on Feb. 28).

Although the winning of the Derby is believed to be confined to two or three stables, there are still

Inspector Gipson's Widow. Under Charitable Services (other charitable allowances) a gratuity is recommended to the widow of Inspector G. Gipson, Sanitary De partment of $3,500.

Inspector Gipson died at Port Said after 20 years' servide, at The age of 43, leaving a widow! and four young children. A pension of £76:15:5 plus 25% temporary increase making a. 16:) of 396.19.8 per annum la payable under the Widows' and Orphans' Fenelon Ordinance and the widow has no other income. Inspector Gipson had an excellent record and it is recommended that grunt equivalent to one year's salary (8350) may be made for the benent of the widow and uhildren. The deceased was returning from leave when he was; taken ill and had to be Innded at Port Said.
