Railway Companies to Rales Freight.

London, Jan. 8. The rallway companies have do- cided to raise the rates of goods. train traffic by about 6 per cent.. owing to the "grave financial posi tion.

These rates were increased in 1020 to 100 per cent. over pre-war. rates, and subsequently reduced till* la 1923 the increase was slightly abore 60 per cent. But the com- pantes claim that the "experiment has not been Justlied by the re- suits.
