A Portsmouth message says that a fund for the relief of de- pendants of petty officers and men who lost their lives in the "Valerian" disaster has been opened by the Commander-in- Chief of the North America and West Indies station. The amount raised will be handed over to the Royal Naval Benevolent Trust, which is already dealing with cases of distress occasioned by the disaster.
