Mr. Etsuzo Imai, of Japan, who has been interested in the educa tion of poor children, died on November 2, at the age of 54, following 20 years' service.

Mr. Louis L. Strauss, the well. known American business man, who gave considerable help to Japan in raising foreign loans in the days of the Russo-Japanese campaign, was received in audi- ence by the Prince-Regent in the Palace on November 4 at 10:30 e.m. He was then entertained at tea.
