COMMITTEE'S CONCLUSIONS.
(Router's Service,)
Landon, June 8..
A resume of the conclusions "of the Committee that recently met st Geneva to consider the proposed re- constitution of the League Council, and which will provisionally meet again on June 28, was given by Vis- count Curil in the House of Lords,,
He stated that it as agreed there would be nine instead of six non-permanent members, who would hold offer for three years. One-third would retire" annually. while only one thight be re-elected. If the Assembly' agreed by a two- thirds majority, otherwise those who retired would not again be eligible until three years later. The idea was to be rutation of office to enable members sitting on the Council as non-permanents hence- forth to assume office immediately they were elected instead of at the next New Year.
The new acheme would make a Council of fourteen, usuming that Germany came in next September, or sixteen if the United States and Russia entered. Admittedly this was a fairly large number, but he saw no reason why it should not work successfully.
unity was carried by 20 votes to the first part had been rejected by 10 after an amendment to delete
20 votes to 12.
The voting thus favoured the Lloyd Georgiana.
The opinion is expressed that Sir John Simon will lead the Lord Oxford section in the House of
Commons.
