"hand- some, gold watches (one for him- self and, one for his wife) from the European staff of the Godown Com pany, with a valuable dinner "aor- vide and tea service' from the com pradore and with two beautiful! June Chinese lampshades mounted on
high blackwood stands from the
Chinese and Indian staffs. Mr. Hooper also received a red all tapestry scroll upon which wero finely worked Chinese characters. This was a gift from the Chinese- !staff.

he said, came to Hongkong to join the Canadian Pacife Railway staff || June: in 1891. He left them to join the Godown Co. in March, 1896, Mr. Hooper had been connected with the "Star"Ferry Co. since its in- ception and had been in charge of May. 17-9 Line the accounts for practically the whole of the time.
Mr. Crapnell paid suitable tribute to the esteem in which Mr. Hooper is held
In his earlier days Mr. Hooper' was a keen cricketer and rugby football player, but of later years he has devoted himself to golt and bowls
The Hongkong Club "hite alley enthusiasts recently gave:] M Hooper a farewell dinner and présented him with a handsome silver salver.
