The biggest jump in exporta or re-exports was in rubber, which rose upwarde of £12,000,000.
Coal showed the heaviest de cline---£21,000,000. In the last two years the value of coal sales abroad hass diminished by B49,970,000:
Sale of iron and steel manufac- tures fell last year by 26,370,000 and of woollens and worsteds by £8,840,000. Cotton yerna were fully maintained with a total of £199,306,000.
In spite of the new duties, motor- | can imports increased from 28,192,- 436 to £11,260,849, indicating, the extent to which they were anti- zipated, but there was a gratifying rise of nearly £3,000,000 in exports. Imports of artificial silk were substantially higher, but the rise Iwas practically balanced by a rise in exports. A much larger quantity of watches. and clocks was brought into the country.
Imports for December gave the largest monthly total for the year, and showed a rise of nearly 220,000,000 against November. Ex ports were considerably in advance of the previous month's aggregate.
