BRITISH PILOTS DARING FEAT
AUTOGYRO TRIUMFH,
Squadron-Leader Haig, while descending in the Cierva helicop- ter, crashed from within 20ft. of the ground.
It is explained that the mishap occurred while an unprecedented test was being carried out in the shape of an absolutely vortical descent from a height of 150ft.
I was feared that two struts which had not been built to with- stand such a test would collapse, but it was decided to take the risk.
