TOURISTS' MESSAGE.
"WE HAVE NEVER SEEN
SO MUCH RAIN"
The last of the tourist vessels of the season, the Cunard liner Fran- conla, left on Saturday afternoon after Hearty hand-shakes. at the gangway and a cordial farewell from friends on the wharf. The rain which welcomed the visitors on arrival, and proved their constant ally during the five days stay, joined in the farewell with a ceaseless patter. However, nothing less than a typhoon would have dispersed the friends on, the wharf, who continued an exchange of greetings until the last of the vessel, was seen. The strain of "It Ain't Going to Rain No More " was taken up from the wharf, the visitors appropriately replying "We don't believe you,"
on
There were busy scenes board shortly before departüre. "Sixteen-bour tailors," coolies carrying camphor, wood boxes, devices for hanging bird cages, [ and a host of other things" were |
in running about
search of their objective. In a Cosy cabin elsewhere Mr. Ross H. Skinner (Cruise Director), was entertaining his friends. In com- mon with the others, Mr. Skinner had also secured some of the Colony's goods. He prided him- sell most on the acquisition of a pair of blackwood panels with Chinese characters and a mantel- plece. A canary warbling sweetly was doubtless also a Hongkong product..
Mr. Skinner's parting message was" We have enjoyed ourselves immensely, but don't forget, to tell them that we have never seen so much rain before."
