In the church at Bisham, near Marlow, is a memorial bearing the following inscription : — "Here also lie the remains of the before mentioned Rev. Stephen Gage, M.A., who died August 12, 1816, aged 76 years. He was upwards of $2 years vicar of this parish and succeeded his father, Rev. Thomas Gage, vicar of the same parish for 46 years" Father and son" "were therefore for more than 98 years vicars of Bisham, a record which cannot often have been equalled.
