Above in shown Governor Miriam Ferguson, first woman Governor of Texas, wearing the gown she wore when she took the oath of office in the State House in Austin. The gown, made by a New York modiste, is of black satin, with wide flowing kimong sleeves, embroidered in steel and crystal beads.
