The scheme outlined is to establish a fishing centre with three" or four hundred vessels fishing from this port and a steamer sailing daily for Britain with 3,000 tons of fresh fish, while storage plants on this side are proposed for the lower grade fish handled for the cheaper trade in Great Britain. Major Green mentioned that France and Italy were also in the market for Nova Scotia fish, and intimated that he was also empowered to encourage fruits and meat ship- ment from Canada to Europe.
