HONGKONG TO GO TO MANILA.
Interest is now centred in the coming International Regatta, to be held in Manila this month, says, the Philippine Herald," for which three crews are hard at practice.
There is general regret that last year's winners, the Americans, have been unable to enter a crew, but the rivalry between the Scot- tish English and Swiss boats is. intense and there are certain to be some extremely close finishes.
This year's racing should prove especially interesting to rowing fans, as each nationality is rely ing on a different style to see them first past the post.

Briefly, the Scottish are work- ing on a very fast stroke to carry them through, the English, on' style and length in the water, and the Swiss on hard slogging, which, although very ugly to watch, seems to move their shell extremely, fast.
Atthe moment the Scottish are favourites, but owing to the dif- ficulty they have had in keeping a permanent bow oarsman in the boat it is doubtful if they will remain so for long..
Each crew is certain to give a good account of itself, and there will be lots of speculation as to who will ultimately lift the cup.
An invitation sent to the Hong kong Boat lub to come over und compete with Manila has been eagerly accepted by the neigh- bouring port and eight lusty men are due here at the beginning of next March. The regatta is set for March 7, and rowing en- thusiasts are hoping to set a pre- cedent by licking Hongkong in the first interport regatta held in
