FANATICAL FURY.

LONDON, September 29. The fanatical fury of the Wahabi, who are attempting to capture Mecca is illustraded by Naji el Assil representative of Huselo Ibn All, the Emir and King of Hejaz), who brought the amended Anglo-Hedjaz Treaty to London for approval.

In a statement to Reuter's Agency, Naji describ ed operations he had recently witnessed near Amman. He said the Wahabi swoop down with- out warning; they take no prisoners and have no respect for sex; they leave a trail of desolation behind. He mentioned the case of a septuagenarian and a youth of nineteen who travelled on camels for fifty-four days to participate in the fighting.

He declared the only deterrent is the employ, ment of British armoured cars and aeroplanes. Supported by two cars and one aeroplane, one of the leading Sheikhs could immediately take Ibsaud's capital...

BRITAIN GUARANTEES AUTONOMY.

But the Grand Sherif, or Emir of Mecca, wielded great influence throughout the Moslem world. Ottoman control was largely maintained in the past by the payment of an annuat
