LONDON, September 2 Mr. Ramsay MacDonald the Premier, luşan WWE HEE Merepelentitive; of Renter's Agency, en route to Geneva gald
GENEVA, September 2. The Chinese delegation is very gratified at the election of Mr. Tang Taxi-ion as one of the Vices in Presidents of the Assembly of the League.
The Chairmen of the six committees of the Assembly include Slitheton Groom (Australia) Mr. Mine ichire, Adici, Japanese Ambassador to Belgium, at the head of committees one and four respectively; M. Duca (Rumania), Committee three. The last-named is the most important as It deals with 'the reduction of armaments, which the Assembly will discuss on Thursday in the presence of Mr. Ramsay MacDonald and M. Herriot
VICE PRESIDENTS ELECTED. There is good ground for believing that China will be given one of the Vice-Presidencies of the present Assembly of the League of Nailons. It is also thought likely that her request for a jeduction of her contribution to the expenses of the League from 65 to 35 nits will be granted, probably with the object of neutralising the clamour of a section of the Chiness parliamentary opposition which is in favour of Chiria's withdrawal from the League, and strengthening the position of Mr. Wellington Koo,
...LATER.
The Assembly has elected six Vice-Presidents, M. Bourgeois, Lord Parmoor, M. Salandra, M. Urrutia, Mr. Skrzynski, and Mr. Tang Tsal-Jon, the last three. representing Colombia, Poland and China respectively.
BRITISH PREMIER EN ROUTE,
LONDON, September 2... Mr. Ramsay MacDonald has left for Geneva. Huge crowds gathered at the Victoria station to see him off. Conversing with presamen on the platform Mr. MacDonald said that he felt very keenly the tremendous importance of the League of Nations. He was not going to Geneva to make, speeches although he would have something to say. He was trying by his presence in Geneva to demonstrate his confidence in the power of the League to do good work. He was very anxious that every nation should send the strongest delegation, possible;

MacDonald defended Government's re- con of the Mutual Guarented Pact, which, hos said, would probably have led to the secession, from the League of certain of the British *Domimons and other nations; and elever have closed the door u the adherence of America and Ar. MacDonald said emphatically, he was not In fafbur of the idea of using force to enforce the decisions of the Langue? Such action, he said;' would puly destroy its power,
