FRENCH PREMIER'S TELEGRAM.
"PARIS, July 29, When Parliament reassembled to-day, a telegram from M. Herriott, the French Premier, was rend in the Chamber of Deputies and in the Senate. It defines the point reached at the London Conference.
It declares that despite constant effort, several more days will be necessary to bring negotiations to a conclusion, owing to the numerous technical difficulties.
The message adds that the French Government is firmly resolved to assure the rights of France, the re-establishment of an inter-allied entente and peace.
GUARDING FRANCE'S RIGHTS, The Havas Agency says M. Herriot's telegram, after defining the point reached at the London Conference, adds that the French delegation, while seeking to give javestors legitimate securities, is guarding against any infringement of the Treaty: of Versailles or France's rights in the event of the non-application of collective action. Several more days will be necessary to complete negotiations, which the French Government is pursuing with Am resolve to assure France's rights and the re- establishment of the inter-allied entente and peace. The results will be submitted to parliament.
NEW FRENCH TONE.
LONDON, July 28.--
A new tone is exhibited in the French Press lo-day in consequence of despatches from French .correspondents in London stating that negotiations are about to begin as regards the evacuation of the Ruhr and suggesting the likelihood of a satisfactory result if France is adequately compensated froms the economic view paint."
"L'Ere Nouvelle” says that by giving the world striking proof of her loyalty in evacuating the Rabr France will be entitled to ask the Allies to make a sacrifice in regard to war-debts and guarantees of
security.
WHAT FRANCE WANTS.
M. Herrict, speaking at a banquet in London attended by his compatriots, said the Conference aims to re-establish peace after war. France want ed a peace favourable to the whole of mankind. The French Government had the right to emphasise that a peace which did not grant France her rights would be an unjust peace. It was impossible to base order upon · injustice. M. Herriot recalled France's sufferings, and added "We are trying now to conciliate what we owe to peace and what is due to France."
The Loft papers, "L'Oeuvre "and" "L'Ere Nouvelle," says Havas, insist that in exchange for the military evacuation of the Ruhr France gets compensations concerning debts and security,
