BRITISH WORLD AVIATORS HERE.

YESTERDAY EVENING'S SPLENDID LANDING.

PERILOUS FLIGHT OVER THE JUNGLE DESCRIBED.

"Waggling Their Tails" To The American Fliers As They Passed.

Three khaki-clad figures stepped on to the Praya from Murray Pier shortly after six o'clock yesterday afternoon. There was no waiting crowd to greet them, just few people with cameras, and with an entire, absence of fuss of any kind they were taken charge of hy Lieut. Cooper and con- veyed to the Officers Quarters of the East Surreys.

The few pedestrians about seemed to find it hard to realise that they were really regarding the British world fliers of whom news was being flashed to the furthest rugiens of the earth, who had already flown 8,700 miles and had yet 14,000 miles to do before completing their chain round the world.

This photographs taken just before the start of the flight, gives a good impression of what the spectators saw when MacLaren's 'plane had come to rest in Laichikok Bay yester- day. The only difference being that the aviators had long ago discarded their heavy coats and were attifed as if they were just off on a picnic-in khaki shirt and shorts. The photo- graph is particularly guod in respect of Flying Oflicer Plenderleith (extreme left) and Sergeant Andrews fextreme right).
