In the House of Commons, Mr. John Harris drew attention to the American bill authorising the construction of eight new cruisers each of 10,000 tons. He suggested that the Government approach the United States with regard to the possibility of another naval conference with the object of prevent- ing a new race in the construction of cruisers.

Mr. Macdonald in reply referred to the state- ment by President Coolidge on April 22 that It' appeared impracticable at present to attempt any further limitation of armaments.
