The case of Jarndyce v. Jarndyce is recalled by the death of Nettle Cox who has been described as one of the ghosts of the Law' Courts." "She haunted its cor ridors and passages for many years, so lang in fact that there was not an official but knew this queer, furtive little figure in black. Nearly 20 years ago Nettie was first noticed wandering about in On the vicinity of the courts and in the streets of the city dressed in a peculiar manner. '
She is said to have been a native of Christchurch, Bournemouth, and was obviously a woman of good family and well educated; one who had come down in the world. The first recorded fact of her London life is that she was found wandering in 1905 and was taken up by the police and afterwards certified insane. Her health must have improved under the care of the authorities, but she seemed to have spent the remainder of her life trying to get redress for
