win the game. It is admitted that some good batting was seen but piling on runs after the decision had been settled, rather detracts from the value of the big figures.
Although first places in both the batting and bowling averages of the second league are not involved, this week has seen a "musical chairs" movement in the junior. statistics, Fraser (Kowloon), falls a few runs short of inclusion in the batting list, Pethèram's average for 25 wickets is just over 12 and Laing has not bowled in half the Varsity games. A good many players just fall short of an average of 20 for batting although they have respectable aggregates, A striking co-incidence is noticeable in the University junior bowling figures. J. L. Youngsaye and C.
The four bowlers whose aames appear in the averages, shared the brunt of the attack; four others sent down 24 overs between them, Scores of 50 or more were made by:
2nd division Gandy (R.E.) 349 runs
Most wickets to date: Ist division. A. el Arculli (Indians) 26; 2nd division, Sara (Civil Service) 53.

Smallest Innings to date: 1st divin sjon, R.G.A. 33 kgainst Navy; 2nd division, C.R.C. 32 against R. "E. and Kowloon and XI-32 against RE.
O. Ismail's total is made up of 39. 18, 33, 36, 38x, 0.44 and 29.
Omar and A. el Arculif took wickets in every, match in which they bowled.

Last season when the first league teams played the same number of matches as in the present and there were only six teams in the second league (meaning ten matches for each team)I drew up a "special" list. of those who had scored more than 200 runs and taken 20 wickets in league matches. This was based on the common definitions. of 1,000 runs or roo wickets in first-class cricket at home where the average player gets about 40 innings in a season.
The basis on which I take the liberty of drawing up similar lists for this season is 200 runs and 20 wickets for the. first league and 400 and. 40, respectively, for the second.

So far nobody has accomplished the "double feat" and it does not ⚫appear as if anybody will unless if Walker. If my Captain memory is correct. Owen Hughes and A. A. Rumjahn (senior) and H. D. Rumjali (junior) accom- plished the double last year.
