In the Hours of Commons the Government has been defeated. The Labour amendment to the Address-in-Reply to the King has been adopted by 328 to 256 votes,
When Parliament reassembled after the recent General Election the Labour Party moved an amendment to the Address-in-Reply that the House of Commons did not possess confidence in Mr. Stanley Baldwin's Goverment. To-day's news means that Mr. Ramsay Mace Donald, leader of the Labour Party, will form a new Government with himself as Premier and Foreign Minister, Mr. Philip Snowden as Chancellor of the Exchequer, Lord Haldane Lord Chancellor, Mr. Elynes Lord Privy Seal and Deputy Leader of the Commons, Mr. Sidney Webb Minister of Labour and Mr. Patrick Hastings Attorney' General. It is stated that Miss Margaret Bondfield will be an Under- Secretary and the first woman to hold office in Britain.)
