Old Wonian cuffing her nails
„Above is the famous painting, "Old Woman Cutting Her Nails," hanging in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and at- tributed to Rembrandt. It is the best of the 17 paintings in the useum which are attributed to the famous master. Prof. John C. Van Dyke, of Rutgers College, after a study of 50 years, now declares not one of the paintings is by Rembrandt, adding there is not an original Rembrandt in America. The museum authorities deride'his statement.

When the burned automobile of Atex Kels, wealthy Lodi cattle- man, was found pear his home and a charred body was found in it, it was believed Kels had been killed by robbers and his carfired. The body was buried, and Kels was mourned by his many friends. But the insurance company knew Kels had eaten sardines just before his "death," and an autopsy showed no sardines in the dead man's body. A quiet police search ended in the arrestof Kels, who confess- ed he murdered an unidentified man and burned his body so his wife could collect $100, insurance. His wife, an expectant mother, has not been told her husband is alive.

For the first time in history, troops have been transported by aeroplane from one part of a battlefield for emergency use in another. The latest method of troop movement was introduced by the United States Marine Corps manoeuvres in Virginia, when huge Martin bombers carried the men, their arms and equip iment to a section of the battlefield where the "enemy" was about to break through.

Chief Gunner George Bradley, has just received from President Coolidge the Congressional Medal of Honour for courage beyond the call of duty. It was bestowed upon him for extreme courage in land ng aminul for under terrific fire at Vera Cruz, when the Mexican city was occupied by the Navy in 1914. Bradley was then a member of the crew of the U. S. S. "Utah".
