GILBERT AND SULLIVAN AT KONGMOON.
KONGMOON PARS.
KONGMOON, Octobert 20. October 16--H.M.S. "Tarantula" arrived here (Pak Kai) this morning from Sam Shui, with the Com- modore on board.
Two pirates were shot to-day just outside the railway station.
October 17-H.M.S. "Tarantula” left for Hongkong.
October 19--Pandemoniumy set in at II p.m. when whistles were blown and gongs sounded. Apparently, the village of She Shan, which is behind the Customs House, was being pirated. What happened afterwards beggars description, although it seemed like a scene from Gilbert and Sullivan's The Pirates of Penzance." Ad- miral Chan Chak's bodyguards made several sorties, his flagship "Kong Tai", lent its searchlights to the scene and guns were' fired on both sides. It was found at the end of it all that nobody had been hit! October 20.-The river steamer "San Nam Hoi" went aground at Lan Shan near Wanginoon but was floated off and arrived here at 11.
