"OBEDIENCE" STILL IN MARRIAGE SERVICE.
In the Marriage Service, should the words be "wilt thou obey him and serve him," or would they not better be "wilt thou love him, comfort him "}
This was one of the subjects dis- cussed in the House of Laity in further considering the proposals for a revised prayer-book.
These revisions were urged by Miss Mande Royden and Mrs. Greighton; other alterations sug gested being the avoidance of giving away" the woman; the obey" by omission of the word
the wife when she takes her wedded husband; the omission of the phrase by the husband," with all my worldly goods I theo endow: and the givlag of a ring by the wife to her husband.
