WIN to the receipt of macrous complaints from patrons as to the incivility of various members of the Staff of the Hotels under the Management of this Compsuy in Hongkong, such complaints being to the effect that "Cash has heen demandad'in satisfaction of Liquore supplied, and patrons thereby inconvenienced by not being allowed to sign "chita," we beg to draw the attention of our clientele to the terms of the Litora Ordinance, 1917, an extract from which is hereby givan -

2. In this Ordinance.

("Cash" means any coins or notes current in the Colony.

(1) Sale" includes any transaction in which intoxicating liquor is supplied for any consirioration whatesovar, direct or indirect.

3. (1) Subject to the provision of subsection (2) of this section, ma person shall sell tag intoxinating liquor for consumption on or at Any Herned premises except for rash.

(2) Sub-section (1) of this section shall not apply to the following

(a) any sale by the proprietor of an hotel to a person residing at
