ANNOUNCEMENT..
WING to the receipt of numerant complaints from patrons as to the incivility of various members of the Staff of the Hotala under the Management of this Company in Hongkong, such complaints being to the effect that "Cash" has been demanded in satisfaction of Liquors supplied, and patrois thereby inconvenienced by not being allowed to sign "chita, we bag to draw the attention of our clientele to the terms of the Liquors Urdionaco, 1917, an extrzet from which is hereby given :-
2. In this Ordinanco.--
(a) "Cash" means any coins or notes ourront in the Colony. (b) Sale" includes any transaction in which intoxicating liquor is supplied for any consideration whatsoever, direct or indirect.
3. (1) Subject to the provisions of sub-section (2) of this section, 05 person ball sell any intoxicating liquor for consumption on or at any licensed premises except for caalt.
(2) Sub-section (1) of this section shall not apply to the following:- (a) any sale by the proprietor of an hotel to a person residing at
the hotel;
(b) any sale by the proprietor of an hotel of liquor to be consumed in the dining room of the hotel at oue of the regular moale of the hotel or of liquor to bo consumed in conjunction with any athar bona fide moal for which a charge of at least thirty cente can be reasonably made;
(c) any sale in accordance with the conditions of his licence by
the bolder of a restaurant adjunct licenco.
4. Who e any intoxicating liquor is sold by a servant or employee in contravention of action 3 of thie Ordinance the employer, whether a natural person or a body ocrporato, shall be doomed to be guilty of an offence against this Ordinance unless he provas armatively that the e'e way against kis express orders and without his ponseat or connivanco.
5. Every person to whom any liquor is, to the knowledge of such person, supplied in contravention of this Ordin ance shall also be guilty of an offence against listhis Ordinance.
The cuperation of our Patrons, with a view to asslating us to carry out the provisions of the Liquare Ordinance, is respectfully requested.
