possibilities of developinent in the near future, for there are rumours of big changes in the South African trade, and the new tonnage which the P. and O., Blue Funnel, and other lines are now putting into service is bound to have a very con- siderable effect on the outlook to Australia and the Far East. But there is no trade so full of startling possibilitics as the passenger and traffic across the Pacific, which may be changed out of all recognition in the very near future, says the Journal of Commerce. Both the July Nippon Yusen Kaisha and the Toyo Kisen Kaisha have big orders in the air, whose fulfilment depends on the final attitude which the Japanese, take up towards naval disarma- ment. It is highly probable that! something will be done, for the N.Y.K. only has intermediate tonnage on the route, and the fur-July
bine ships of the Toyo Company

not make anything like the speed July 16.-0, & E. for which they were once famous, The O.S.K. ships are similar in type to their Nippon Yusen rivals, and none of the Japanese are anything approaching the United States Pre- sident or the Canadian Pacific Em- press classes in general qualities.
Qa the cargo side of the business, organization is very difficult on account of the inequalities of the trade. Going to Japan anything is carried, from heavy cotton to steel and machinery, while coming back by far the greater part of the cargoes consist of silk, which runs up to a very big value, but which does little to weigh down a big steamer.
The immense value of
these cotton cargoes places, a premium, on speed, for naturally the shippers do not want to have their capital jied up or their pro- perty at risk for any longer than is absolutely necessary, and fast passages and special trains across the Continent are well worth the trouble and expense. This is the reason that the Japanese ships are steadily falling from favour as far as the silk trade is concerned, in spite of the obvious patriotism of the islanders, which still has a tremendous effect on the passen- ger services,

FLYOSAN
FLIES
These peats are of many kinds and varieties, but we are mostly concerned. with the common House Fly (Musca Domestion) and the stable fly (Stomokya Calcitrans). Breeding in decayed animal and vegetable matter, the fly requires from 10 to 14 days to reach maturity and is then ready to pursue its loathsome habit of carrying disease germs on its feet and body from its filthy surroundings and depositing them on the food we eat.
Flies transmit disease in several ways. The biting flies, such as the Testse flies which transmit sleeping sickness, inoculate the Typanosome directly into the system.
Biting flies, such as the Stomorys Calcitrans, abound in the United States in etables, houses and also in nature. They have recently been implicated as go-between in Polionyalitis (Infantile Paralysis) and also in Anthrax, Relapsing fever, Horse sickness (Pfordeaterbo) and Epithelioma of fowls.
It is known that Typhoid fever and other intestinal infections, may be. transmitted by the common house fly.
Flies undoubtedly play the same role in Dysontory, Cholera and all other intestinal infections that they do in Typhoid fever. It is now quite evident that flies lighting upon a case of Small Por, Measles, Scarlet fever, and other exanthematous diseases may very readily transmit these infections to another person.
This have also been associated with Leprosy and many other diseases. In view of this evidence it is difficult to understand how adgone could think of permitting flies in their homes, allow them to come in contact with food or to permit them to be "awafter" on tables, walls or any place about the house. FLYOSAN" makes it possible for you to "awat the fly in a new way, You may have an entire room filled with flies, but in few minutes time with a FLYOSAN sprayer you can kill them all and not one will be amashed on the furniture or walls,
Animals may be protected from the bites of flies and other insects by spraying them with FLYOSAN twice daily, as it not only kills the insecte present, but keeps others away for a period of several hours after it has been sprayed on the animal.
FLYOSAN will not permanently soil walls, tapestries, pictures or other things about the homo,
Flyosan is obtainable at a
