LADY DOCTOR'S HEROIC ATTEMPT,

PESHAWAR, Aril 22. Mrs. Starr, the lady doctor of the Peshawar Medical Mission, who has heroically volunteered to go to Tirah to help 'Miss Ellis, started for Tirah yesterday.

She was personally escorted across the border near Shinwari by the Chief Commissioner. From Hangu Mrs. Starr's safety was guaranteed by the chiefs of the Affidi and Orakzai tribes. She has been very friendly received in the course of the journey.

Miss Ellis, 15 years old, was kidnapped ten days ago by Afridi raiders who murdered her mother, wife of the district staff officer. Miss Ellis, it is thought, is being held as a hostage for arrested tribesmen.]
