Great anxiety and distress have been caused among Army man by the suspention of payment by the firm of Bir Charles R. McGrigor, Bart, and Co., of Panton street, [8.W., who were Army agents for 7 corps and regiments. The immediate needs of officers-on-full-pay. hava been met by the action of the War Office in opening credit accounts for them with Mepra. Cox and Co, or Mesars. Holt and Cp, the other Army. agents, but the position of many kundreds of ex-officers, for whom the firm acted as bankers is desperate.
"The suspension has left a number of ex-oflicera pegniless,” said Captain R. B. Fargitar, secretary of the League of Officers, 14, Sackville atrat, W., to a reporter.
"Some ex-offipers who called to see me this morning were in's deparate plight. One man, demobilised in July last, had £150 the bank. He is out of work, and was dissing, on the ap count for his living expenses. Now he does not know where to turn for money.
