LORD GREY'S VIEWS,

The Imperial Merchant Service Guild and the Mercantile Marine Service Association, in deference to the wish of the Captain of the "Egypt" have not proceeded with their intention of appealing to the High Court as regards the "Egypt" srding, but have made. representations to the Board of Trade that the severity of the Jadgment of the court is unprecedented and wholly unwarranted. It would mean that in the event of loss of life in the future arising from failure of the human element and the consequent panic, master and officers of ships world be liable to be branded by what amounted to a charge of menelaughter.
