TURKISH ENCOUNTER IN IR'Q.
SIXTY SEVEN BRITISH CASUALTIES.
LONDON, September 7.
A rious casualty roll of sixty seven occurred amongst a British force jo an encounter in Iraq, arising from a Turkish inroad by two hundred Turkish Irregulars, who have been for some time in the Kurdish Hills. They moved down to Rania, where they were joined by neighbouring Kurds and sharply engaged, on August 31st o' small column of Kurdish and Assyrian Levies, supported by a company of the 15th Sikbe and a section of an Indian Pack Battery. The Indians behayed with the atmost gallantry. The decision to withdraw to a position at Koy Sanjak, was effectively carried out and cover- ed by R.A.F. Two British and Indian officers were killed and one wounded. Fourteen Indians were killed, eleven wounded and seven are missing. Thirteen of the Levies were killed and nineteen wounded. The situation in all other provinces in Iraq is satisfactory..
I
BAD BEHAVIOUR OF KURDISH LEVIES.
LONDON, September 7. The British withdrawal from a difficult bill country in the course of the encounter with Turkish Irregulars in Iraq is due to very bad behaviour of the Kurdish Levies. In consequence of the disturbed state of the neigh- bouring districts, owing to the Turkish incursion, the R.A.F. safely collect- el sixty-seven British officials and families over wido area of the Suleiman Yeh district during a single doy.

GENEVA, September 7.
A report on the traffic of opium and other injurious drugs has been pre sented by Prince Charoon cf Siam to the Filth commission of the League's Assembly. The Commission decided to submit a resolution to the Assembly inviting Governments to apply a system of import and export certificates, also to supply information regarding the requisite quantity of drugs from each country, for national consumption. Professor Gilbert Murrey desired the details to state the amount consumed per 100,000 inhabitants. The Commission hoped that America would appoint a delegate on the Op'um Commission.
